Spring at the Art Museum

Addie and I arrived at the IMA just as the rain had stopped today. It was perfect outside, and Addie loved the flowers and water fountains. Here are a few shots from our afternoon.

After our walk, we went inside to check out the Thornton Dial exhibit. Addie has always done so well at the IMA and it is so much fun to hear her take on the artwork. This exhibit was very abstract (and some of it a bit unsettling), but she focused on the colors mostly, and commented on a few random objects. Afterward, we made some art. Here's Addie's creation:
Today, they were instructing on Asian-style watercolor painting. They were teaching how to hold the brush properly and some basic techniques. I tried to follow the instructions. In contrast, Addie knew exactly what she wanted to do, and sat very contentedly painting for ten minutes. The instructor said it was the best abstract painting she had seen all day. :)

We then got a chocolate chip cookie, and ate it sitting outside, next to the fountain, in the now-beaming sun. Addie collected some very interesting pine cones, which she was super excited to take home to show Daddy and add to her treasure tin. We really had a fun afternoon!
