Dear Adeline,
You adore your daddy. You love to grab his scratchy beard and squeal while doing so. You also pull his glasses off his face and "clean them" by chewing on them. Daddy appreciates your cleaning technique as his glasses are always dirty. :) You love Addie-Daddy Day, which is every Friday. You and Daddy go on all kinds of adventures, including grocery shopping, visits to the hardware store and library, house cleaning, and even visiting Mommy at work for a mid-day snack. You also love reading time with Daddy, and he is especially talented at reading Hop on Pop and Goodnight Moon. The former always gets you to laugh-- but only when Daddy reads it!
To show your love for your awesome daddy, you planned an extra special day for Daddy's very first Father's Day. First we went to an outdoor service in the pretty gardens at the new church we have been attending. You were very good. We then took Daddy out for brunch at a restaurant new for us, Zest. It was yummy, and even with a long wait to get a table, you were a very good baby and did not cry once. After brunch we made a quick run to our new favorite place, Locally Grown Gardens (we call it "Ron's Place"), where Daddy and I each picked up a retro soda, as part of our mission to sample all of the sodas this summer. Despite your recent strong interest in every item of food Daddy and I put in our mouths (and despite Daddy's pleas to just let you have a taste) you were not given any soda (well, not directly... perhaps you get some a few hours later from me!). I promise next summer you will get a sip or two of a flavored soda.

We went to the art museum next. This was the last day for the special exhibit European Design of the Last 20 years. Daddy had wanted to see it. We were certain you would just sleep through the exhibit, but it turns out you were a big fan of the exhibit. We carried you through the exhibit, and you squealed with delight, "talked" and drooled quite a bit. We also got quite a few smiles. We assume you were interested in all the 3 dimensional shapes and colors, but perhaps there is an artist waiting to emerge?
We finished our wonderful afternoon by heading to Gammie and NoNo's house. Daddy brought NoNo a collection of meats from the Goose, and we had nice, relaxed visit with them.
You gave Daddy a book about Daddy Hugs for him to read to you, which he found with a note from you in your crib. You are a very good gift giver and he was impressed that we had planned this several weeks in advance.
Love,
Mommy
