Wow, birthdays with a little girl are so much fun -- maybe not what they were pre-kid, but she gets such a kick out the special occasion and her joy is so wonderful! Adam, the amazing chef that he is, made a fabulous meal, including a truly awesome pizza that beats out my favorite pizza joint -- no kidding and no exaggeration! For dessert, Addie and Adam made hazelnut gelato from scratch. No hazelnut concentrate here - Adam steeped hazelnuts for an hour to get the flavor. Above, Addie and I watching the ice cream maker work its magic.
Below, Addie trying to lick the hazelnut gelato mixture as it is poured into the machine.
Below, the most amazing pizza. Homemade, to die-for crust, fresh, local tomatoes, basil and cheese. This was incredible! A few days later Adam used the remaining dough to make another pizza, that time with his own homemade pizza sauce. He amazes me with his cooking skills, which are growing every day. I particularly love that Addie is usually there right with him and is now a natural in the kitchen, scooting her stool over to assist him or me (the sometimes sous chef) with whatever we are mixing, chopping, measuring, etc.
